The LaFontaine Arts Council is now providing all programming through the Huntington Arts and Entrepreneurial Center.
The LaFontaine Arts Council is hosted an open call for muralists to submit their designs to be painted on new upcycled benches throughout Huntington. The artists have been chosen and the benches have been placed. Stay tuned for more!
JeFFFest is our fan-favorite annual event that occurs on the last Sunday of Heritage Days. You can expect to find FUN FOOD, FINE ARTS, and FAB MUSIC right in the heart of downtown Huntington. This event highlights many local restaurants in our food court, live music throughout the evening, and a silent art auction. The art auction features custom framed works of art created by talented community members, young and old.
Each year, volunteers from the community with all ranges of artistic abilities come together to provide, a now staple piece of public art to our downtown area…the fire hydrants! If you are from Huntington you most likely have noticed these wonderful pieces while enjoying all the downtown area brings to our town. With a different theme each year, every fire hydrant is unique in the artist’s interpretation of the theme. The rest of the community is then invited for a hydrant walk. A map of each hydrant’s location is provided along with the hydrant theme and artist. The hydrants then remain painted all year until the next spring when the new theme is revealed.
The LaFontaine Arts Council Sponsors a structured Regional Art Show. This Juried show awards prizes to best in category and the work is displayed in the HAEC Gallery for the community to enjoy.
The LaFontaine Arts Council partners with the City of Huntington and the art teachers at Huntington County Elementary schools to choose 14 designs from 1st and 2nd Grade students drawing submissions. These designs are carefully curated into a set of cards that are sold at local retailers throughout the county. Four of the chosen images are also featured on the mayor's Christmas cards.
The LaFontaine Arts Council hosts their Annual Bingo for the Arts Event, an exciting evening full of games and fun! The evening features a wide variety of prizes, from amazing experiences, to original works of art, and cash prizes.
As part of the Capital Improvement plan, The LaFontaine Arts Council has partnered with the City of Huntington to offer a matching grant program for public art projects. Email lafontaineartscouncil@gmail.com for more information.
